BackChain is a free Chrome extension developed by dcrousso that adds a convenient button to the top-left of every page, allowing users to easily return to the website from which that page was linked. This handy feature eliminates the need to manually navigate back through multiple pages or tabs.
In version 1.1 of BackChain, the extension now returns to the comments page of links on popular sites like Reddit and HackerNews. This enhancement provides even more convenience for users who frequently browse these platforms.
In version 1.0, the initial release of the extension, BackChain applies to all links on all pages with a different URL domain than the current page. It only creates the "Return to Source" button on pages that are opened from another domain. For example, if a user is on reddit.com and clicks a link to imgur.com, BackChain will create the button for easy navigation back to Reddit. However, if the user navigates to a different page within the same domain, such as reddit.com/news, the button will not be generated.
